Egba Nation Initiative

Privacy Policy

How the Egba Nation Initiative collects, uses and protects your personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Last updated 19 Oct 2026

DRAFT — to be reviewed and approved by the Egba Nation Initiative and its legal adviser before launch.

Who we are

The Egba Nation Initiative ("ENI", "we") runs egbanation.org. For any privacy question, write to [email protected].

What we collect and why

Membership: your name, email, phone number, country, city, Egba section, hometown and interests, so we can run your membership, verify your phone number and, if you agree, send you updates.

Gifts: your email and, if you give it, your name, so we can issue receipts and match bank transfers. Card details are handled by Paystack; we never see or store them. Proofs of bank transfer are seen only by our Treasurer.

Contact messages: your name, email, optional phone number and message, so we can reply.

Technical data: basic logs (such as IP address and browser) kept for security and to prevent abuse.

Our legal basis

We rely on your consent (given when you join, give or contact us), on what is needed to deliver what you asked for, and on our legal duties, for example keeping financial records.

The public ledger

Every gift is published with its amount, date, method and recipient. Your name is never shown unless you choose to show it; instead each supporter appears as a random code that cannot be traced back to you.

Who we share data with

Only the service providers we need to run the site: Paystack (payments), Termii (SMS codes), our hosting provider (servers in France, EU) and Cloudflare (security and delivery). They may only use your data to provide their service to us. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Membership data is kept until you delete your account. Financial records are kept as long as the law requires. Contact messages are deleted when no longer needed.

Your rights

You can see, download, correct or delete your data at any time. Members can download or delete their data from My account. You can also withdraw consent to updates, or complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Changes

We will post any change to this policy on this page with a new date.
